My Challenger tournament was on Sat, July 8, 2017--The Racquet Pro Pasadena Challenger. I drew my first opponent—Isabel He! She was a consistent player that attacks when she could and had really good spin serves. Isabel was a really friendly player and competitor that never give up. I broke her consistency with angle shots—topspin and slices. I won 4-0; 4-1. My second match was a really stressing and breathtaking match. My opponent was an attacker! We’d met a lot of times in the tournaments where she would always in. Her name was Naomi Osibajo. This time all I needed was motivation and courage to get through this. I let myself know that no one is unbeatable or unstoppable and all you need is love and courage to perform. I found those two things this match and I won, 4-0; 4-2! My final match was again with Claire Garcon. Her consistent game and her shots were harder this time. But I had motivation and hope and I was not worried, like I always am, because I knew that if I try a variety of shots it would be difficult for her to get to every ball I hit. I won 4-0; 4-2.
I did win the tournament, and it was tough. But what about the other challenges in tournaments ahead? I don’t know what they are, but I do know when I’ll come upon them. When I do, I’ll be ready with lots of love! What a win for me! Thank you for allowing me to share with you my joy and happiness in my tennis journey. Feeling Grateful! Karina Zaharieva |
