I had an Open tournament on August 5, 2017 at Bay Area Racquet Club. It was called the Bay Area Racquet Club Summer Junior Open. My first opponent was one of my training partners and friends, Fiona Fuke. She was a player that was not afraid to attack and hit hard shots. I tried to be as consistent as possible while often thinking of attacking when I had the chance. I ended up winning, 4-0; 4-3. My second match was with a really consistent and smart player named Remy Phan. We had played each other before, and now we met again. I did really good in the first set, 4-0! However, during the second set my mind relaxed so much so that I couldn't find my way back to playing good tennis. I eventually lost the second set, 2-4. Consequently, I was so nervous during the tie-breaker and I lost 3-7. As people say, it does not matter what happened in the past...only the present counts! I was not playing in the present. It was a lesson learned that I should have kept on playing my game--pursuing my objective! I should have kept on moving forward.
You either wins, or you learn. I learned!!! ;-) Karina Zaharieva |
