I had a two day Open tournament called the Bay Area Racquet Club New Years Adult and Junior Open. This tournament started on Saturday December 30, 2017. I was really exited for this tournament. Well, I'm excited for every tournament! I told myself that I wasn't going to make the same mistakes like I did at my last tournament match. You know, things like this are way easier said than done. This happens for many reasons too! Feelings, pressure, anything and everything! A lot of little things can make a big picture. I mean a really big picture! Anyway, I should probably get on topic now! My match was supposed to be at 9:45 a.m. but it started raining and they delayed the matches. When the rain stopped, they started drying the courts. Meanwhile, me and some of my training partners went to practice with our coach waiting for our matches to be confirmed. After an hour or so, it started pouring again so they delayed our matches, again, and this time, changed the site. I was now going to play at Harry Taylor Tennis Center. After we ate some lunch at Nobi Public House, my dad drove me to Harry Taylor Tennis Center, the place I was going to play. When we got there, I didn't have enough time to do my dynamic warm-up so, I just did some stretching instead. When I heard them call my name, I knew it was time. Since there was a rain delay, my first opponent Jaimie Li and I started the match at 2-2 each set. I played really good in the first set. I attacked until she made the mistake. In the second set though, I was the one to make the mistake first. We went to a tiebreak. I was really nervous and I made a huge mistake. I was afraid to lose! We both made mistakes back and forth. In the end I was the one to make more. I lost 6-3, 4-6, (8-10.) The actual score was 4-1, 2-4, (8-10) not counting the two extra games.
I was supposed to play on Sunday but they canceled the consolation and main draw because of the rain. I shouldn't have thought about losing. That's the biggest mistake you could make in tennis history. Anyway, I will do better next time...because tomorrow is a new day! See everyone soon again...thank you. <3 Karina Zaharieva |
