“Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.” Master Ittei commented, “Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.” Who knew Friday, July 21st, 2017, a day before my tournament (Deer Park Junior Open (Jr), would be my bad luck day? I hurt my pinky toe miss-stepping my foot between the bed frame and the mattress. It was really hurting and all bruised. I thought that since it was so small it wouldn't be a problem to play the next day tournament. Well, I was wrong. My heart was crushed when I couldn't play because I could barely walk, or hold back my tears. I wanted to play! It was hard for me to watch everyone else play. I wanted to play. I watched and watched and got really interested in all the strategies and tactics different players were using. It felt really different watching from the sidelines. I was really stressing out for no apparent reason. All I wanted to do as play. But running, sprinting, and moving and being generally active were all the things I couldn't do a the moment. This situation is to teach me to be careful and not careless about the small matters in my life. Sometimes I feel that I can learn a big lesson from small things. As the quote reminds me, now I will treat all matters with small concern should be treated seriously in order for me to reach my personal tennis excellence.
Thank you for reading my journal. Please share with me your thoughts. It's tennis love or nothing ;-) Karina Zaharieva |
