I was jumping in excitement. My heart was beating faster than it had ever beaten before. I knew I was improving my tennis. I knew I was moving little by little, and getting closer to my goal--to play tennis professionally! No, I didn't turn pro! But a letter made my day: I got a letter, an invitation to represent USTA Texas Section in the Green Ball Division to attend training and compete against USTA Southwest. I felt very proud of my hard work and my persistent--it is paying off in small dividends. This letter was a big step forward for me. I felt this letter was for a tournament bigger than my monthly Challenger tournaments. It was an invitation to the 2017 Battle of the Border Tournament! This was big for me! Did I mention that? I was chosen to be part of a team of top twelve 10s Green Ball Division players in Texas. It really made me feel like something was very unique and special to have the opportunity to represent USTA Texas tennis in my own way, my own capacity. I felt like I was finally part of something--part of the big girls tennis. ;) And I accepted this special invitation! Thank you for reading my journal. I appreciate you being here, as I share my joy with you. I'll keep you updated with my experience when I get to the Battle Border event next month.
I'm holding on to my service game! <3 Karina Zaharieva |
